![]() I’m legitimately mystified a to why Graham McNeill would so thoroughly undermine his own work - except, maybe, that the big twist ending of Fulgrim was dumb and didn’t fit the narrative but, sure, retcon that so you can have snake daddy Fulgrim indulge all his evil vices as a willing servant of Slaanesh. ![]() I think I’ve come to terms with the fact that Gav Thorpe just has a very different idea of what the Dark Angels should be about than I do - I like his writing much better when he’s writing about literally anything other than the ridiculous time travelling Nurgle corruption plot he’s contrived around the First Legion and, as I’ve mentioned before, he’s done Merir Astelan dirty and I don’t much care for it. It’s a rough place to break stride, though - the Primarchs anthologizes four short stories featuring Fulgrim, Ferrrus Manus, Lion El’jonson and Omegon, and with the exception of some of the super sneaky Alpha Legion antics in the last one (the twist ending isn’t a twist if you expect it), I hated the entire lot of them. I finished the Primarchs just in time to take a break from the long, slow, exhausting middle section of Horus Heresy in favor of newly released Emperor’s Legion sequel, the Regent’s Shadow after which, I’ll get caught up on the Siege of Terra with the First Wall before resuming my penance. ![]()
